In Bigfoot We Trust

A farcical mockumentary style character study with the violent humor of a Coen Brothers film, like Fargo, before morphing into a more gruesome sort of folk horror akin to Midsommar. The absurd, harmful rhetoric of Van marks him the perfect protagonist for a twisted tale about the harmful yet understandable need to escape into one’s own pre-made reality when facing failure.

A series of increasingly bizarre, violent setbacks befall Van Sedgewick, a deranged right wing conspiracy theorist, as he live-streams his attempt to make contact with Bigfoot in hopes that communing with the legendary creature will restore his dwindling journalistic credibility.

Van Sedgewick is a right wing conspiracy theorist and former journalist, now facing unemployment from his recent firing at Falcon News. Forced to live back home with his parents in rural Ontario, Van continues his fight for truth online, focusing specifically on cryptid conspiracies and struggling daily to retain an audience. In time, Van decides to head off into the vast wilderness and make contact with the only other soul he’s felt truly connected to: Bigfoot. And he’s live streaming every moment of it. It’s not long before Van is forced wildly off course in a series of increasingly violent and surreal encounters, all while learning the hard way that Bigfoot means many different things to many different people.
